BoyBye Privacy Policy
Last updated October 8, 2026
BoyBye is an app made by Cauto Company (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information BoyBye uses, where it goes and what you can do about it. It covers the BoyBye apps for iPhone and Android.
The short version
- No account. BoyBye never asks for your name, email address or phone number.
- Your photos never leave your phone. BoyBye has no servers. We never see your photos, your videos or anything you type.
- No ads, analytics or tracking. We don’t sell your information, and the app contains no advertising or analytics tools.
- One outside service. RevenueCat handles the BoyBye Pro subscription. It never receives your photos, videos or anything you type.
Who is responsible
Cauto Company is responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal information processed through BoyBye. You can reach us at support@cauto.dev.
What BoyBye uses, and where it stays
Your photos
With your permission, BoyBye reads your photo library so you can choose the photos you want gone. On iPhone, you can let it see all your photos or only the ones you select.
- Where
- On your phone only. To play the effect and film it, BoyBye makes smaller copies of the photos you choose in its temporary storage. It erases them when you finish, and again every time the app starts.
- Why
- To show, destroy and film the photos you choose.
Deleting photos
When you destroy photos, BoyBye asks your phone to delete the originals, and your phone asks you to confirm. On iPhone, deleted photos stay in the Recently Deleted album for 30 days, and if you use iCloud Photos, they’re removed from your other devices too. On Android 11 and later, they’re deleted permanently. Copies kept elsewhere, such as Google Photos backups or other apps, aren’t affected, so delete those there.
Your breakup videos
BoyBye films each destruction as a video on your phone, including the name you typed, if any. The video is saved to your photo library when you tap Save to Photos, or when you share it on iPhone to TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat or WhatsApp, because those apps pick up videos from your photo library. It goes to another app only when you choose one to share it with. We don’t see what you share or where. Videos you don’t save are erased along with the photo copies.
Your burn book
For each breakup: the name you typed (if any), how many photos you destroyed, the effect you used and the date. It’s stored on your phone only, up to the most recent 200 entries.
Your subscription
BoyBye uses RevenueCat, Inc. to sell and check the BoyBye Pro subscription. When you open the app, it asks RevenueCat which plans are available and whether you’re subscribed, and it contacts RevenueCat again when you subscribe or restore a purchase. RevenueCat receives a random customer ID that it creates for the app on your phone, your App Store or Google Play purchase records, and basic technical information about your device and connection, such as your IP address, operating system and app version.
We can see that customer ID and its purchase records in RevenueCat, but never your name, email address, Apple ID, Google account or payment details. Apple and Google handle payments under their own privacy policies. BoyBye also keeps your latest subscription status on your phone so Pro keeps working when you’re offline.
What we don’t collect
BoyBye doesn’t use your camera, microphone, contacts, location or advertising ID, and it doesn’t use cookies or tracking technologies.
How we use information
- To let you choose, destroy and film your photos, all on your phone.
- To sell BoyBye Pro, check whether you’re subscribed and restore your purchases.
- To reply when you contact us.
We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t sell it.
If you’re in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, our legal bases are:
- performing our contract with you, to provide BoyBye and your subscription;
- our legitimate interests in keeping purchases working and preventing fraud;
- complying with legal obligations.
Who we share it with
- RevenueCat, Inc. processes in-app purchases for us, as described above.
- Apple and Google process your payments as independent companies under their own privacy policies.
RevenueCat may use the information only to provide its service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or rights, or as part of a merger or sale of BoyBye. In a merger or sale, this policy would continue to apply to your information.
International transfers
RevenueCat is based in the United States and may process information there and in other countries. When information from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland is transferred, it’s protected by safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Photo copies and unsaved videos: until you finish, or at the latest the next time the app starts.
- Burn book and subscription status: on your phone until you clear the burn book or delete the app.
- Subscription records at RevenueCat: for as long as we need them to provide and support your subscription, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Emails you send us: for as long as we need them to help you.
Your choices and rights
In the app
- Clear your burn book in Settings with Clear burn book. This doesn’t touch your photos.
- Change or cancel BoyBye Pro in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
- Delete the app to remove everything BoyBye kept on your phone.
- Change BoyBye’s access to your photos at any time in your phone’s settings.
By email
Email support@cauto.dev to access, correct, delete or get a copy of the information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict how we use it. Because BoyBye has no accounts, please include the order ID from your Apple or Google receipt so we can find your subscription records. We’ll reply within the time the law requires, usually one month.
If you’re in the EEA, UK or Switzerland
You have the rights described above under the GDPR, UK GDPR or Swiss law. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you’re in the United States
Depending on your state (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and others), you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to access, correct and delete it; to get a copy of it; and to appeal if we turn down your request (reply to our decision to appeal). You can use an authorized agent. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.
In the last 12 months we have collected identifiers (the random customer ID and IP address described above) and commercial information (your subscription), from your device and from Apple or Google through RevenueCat. We use it only for the purposes above and disclose it only to RevenueCat as our service provider. We don’t sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don’t collect sensitive personal information.
Security
Your photos, videos and burn book never leave your phone unless you save or share a video yourself. The app talks to RevenueCat over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to protect your information.
Children
BoyBye isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has subscribed, contact us and we’ll delete their subscription records.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll also let you know in the app or on our store listing before it takes effect.
